Whether installed in marine or shore-based environments, the equipment is fundamentally the same and the core electrical principles still apply. I bring a consistent, methodical commissioning and fault-finding approach built over more than 10 years of hands-on experience.

Dan Gibson, Electrical Commissioning Engineer

About Me

Most vessel electrical and electronic systems are built on the same core principles as their shore-based equivalents. While my experience is vessel-focused, the equipment itself and its operation are, for the most part, the same whether installed on a vessel or on shore — the primary difference being the operating environment. I apply the same standards of electrical commissioning and a consistent, methodical approach to fault-finding across both marine and shore-based equipment, developed over more than 10 years of hands-on experience.

Gibson Marine Electrical Ltd delivers hands-on construction, commissioning, diagnostics and technical documentation for UK shipyards, subsea handling projects, vessel owners and marine contractors.

As Director, I remain directly involved in delivery, staying on the tools with panel wiring, testing, investigations and practical fault-finding on live projects. Overseas mobilisation is undertaken where the scope justifies travel.

Currently progressing Incorporated Engineer (IEng) registration via the IET.

My experience has been built primarily on vessels, including multiple refits, before moving into a subsea company and completing work on a surface vessel - an important career milestone.

Based in Prudhoe, Northumberland, I work across the UK, with travel terms clearly defined in advance.

Gibson Marine Electrical Ltd is built on clear principles: quality engineering, straightforward communication and leaving every job in a better condition than it was found. I work with honour and integrity, staying committed to each project even when more lucrative opportunities arise.
